Everyone finishes together. First across the line wins, no matter how fast you are.
How it works
This isn’t a normal race. Instead of everyone starting at once, we stagger the start based on your recent form:
• Slower runners start first.
• Faster runners start last.
• If everyone runs to their current pace, the whole field should arrive at the finish line at roughly the same time.
• Whoever crosses the line first, wins — genuinely anyone’s race.
It’s a 5K out-and-back route, so you’ll pass fellow runners heading the other way. Keep left on the return leg and give way at the turning point.
How to enter
1. Time yourself running 5K once before the entry deadline — any route, any watch or phone timer.
2. Send us your name and that time using the contact form below.
3. We’ll use it to work out your start time, you don’t need to do any maths yourself.
4. Start times will be shared before the day in our WhatsApp group.
On the day
• Arrive at least 15 minutes before your allotted start time to warm up.
• Marshals will be at the start line, the turning point, and the finish line.
• You’ll be called off in 1 minute waves — no mass start, no waiting around in a crowd.
• Finish order is what counts, not your finish time.
The prize
First across the line takes home a Coached FITT mug, plus a High5 energy gel, bar, and electrolyte tab — the essentials, basically.
A note on fair play
The format only works if everyone submits honest times. Sandbagging (deliberately under-reporting) spoils it for everyone else, so please enter your genuine recent form. We may also recognise the outright fastest time on the day separately, so there’s no reason not to run at your best.
Questions?
Get in touch with us at Coached FITT, we’re happy to help with anything from finding your pace to what to wear on the day.
See you at the start line. 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏽♂️
